Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir, was considered a potent symbol of protection among the Vikings. Thor used his hammer to protect the world of men from the chaotic forces of the giants.

Mjolnir pendants were very common in the Viking world, and more than twice as many Thor's hammer pendants survive than all other symbols combined. It is also the only Viking symbol that continued to be used well into the Christian period as a symbol of continued allegiance to the old ways.

This striking Mjolnir pendant is decorated in the traditional Norse style with geometric patterns. The head features two goats' heads, representing the two goats that pulled Thor's chariot.

On the handle is Vegvisir, one of the magical symbols from the Icelandic grimoires of the 18th century. Also known as the Norse Compass, this wayfinding symbol ensures that a person never loses their way.
